This journal will chronicle my Rut-cation and review tactics, based on weather and timing, to hunt NE Ohio whitetail deer.  I look forward to sharing this ongoing story with you.   Good Luck Everyone and  – Stay Afflicted with Whitetail OCD

Strategy today: AM Sit in the Pinch Point

Very cold and frosty morning fell upon North East Ohio. The frost layer was thick like a snowfall. It just felt like a good morning to be in the whitetail woods.

I climbed into my lock-on just before daybreak and sat until 11 AM with zero deer movement. I texted during the hunt with others who were out and seeing a similar result. The morning movement has been nonexistent in our area for the past three days. I may have to shift my focus to evening hunts until the middle part of next week. Others near me are reporting they are seeing bucks showing in daylight, but only during the evening hours.

I have family obligations tonight so I will not be hunting the evening. I will be headed into the killing tree in the morning, expecting some movement at first light.

More to come.

Afflicted with Whitetail OCD, I have been addicted to the Whitetail Deer since the late 1980s. It is an all-consuming and never-ending passion to learn about and ultimately preserve the heritage of whitetail deer hunting. Now I feed that addiction with the Whitetail OCD blog.
